It's not Sunday - but had to share this

Mum has finished my 3D House - isn't it beautiful.
Just the boost I need as I have been off sick the last two days with terrible flu - I'm off for another lie down now, hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.

Successful Meet Up

Yesterday was the Meet Up I organised for some internet stitching friends. I booked the library at my new school which turned out to be a brilliant venue, very light and airy, perfect for stitching, and we were able to sit outside in the beautiful sunshine for lunch.

There were many many examples of stunning work, including hand quilting, patchwork, hardanger and of course cross stitching. I organised a kit exchange based on the theme of summer; the variety of designs chosen were amazing, I received "life is a garden, dig it" from six strand sweets with all the gorgeous SSS threads and Nemesia 28ct jobelan from Polstitches. I'm looking forward to stitching this.

We had a lovely meal at a local pub afterwards and a few people who were staying over came with us to our daughter's netball presentation night. She was awarded "best improved" junior player and they have asked her to start practicing with the senior team - we're so proud of her.

I have nearly finished my 3D house but struggled with attaching the roof - my mum lent me a curved needle but I still couldn't manage. Mum makes hand quilted quilts, does stump work and many other stitching crafts but she also struggled with it. She has taken it home to glue the roof on so hopefully I will have it to show soon.

It is reveal day for the April Challenge so I can now show my work - the Caron Keeper.

I think I am going to take it to the caravan and hang it there.

I am now stitching a lavender piece to make into a lavender bag to hang in my office at school - I thought this would be a nice way to fragrance the room. The lavender is some I bought at the church fete in Wales last summer, home grown and it smells divine.

I am also hoping this week to get started on a long term project I have in mind - fingers crossed I can make a start, I will spill the beans as soon as I know it's working

Lots of stitching this week

I've been quite busy this week - I have completed all the stitching on my Christmas 3D House and will hopefully assemble it this week. I have arranged a Meet Up Day for some of my internet friends next Saturday so I'd like to get it finished by then.

I have stitched myself a new name tag - I just need to assemble it, probably on plastic canvas with a felt back.

It was from a free design on Victoria Sampler - Good Friends Name Tag. I changed the colours to ones that are my favourites.

My other bit of stitching is a lovely design from Lizzie Kate. I took part in a Secret Kit Exchange and this was my gift.

It was quite quick to stitch and I love the pistashio fabric but I have no idea what to do with it now, any suggestions would be appreciated.

I did wonder whether to make a small hanging for my new office at work - but I will have to watch I don't turn it into another display area for stitching.

I have also knitted another hat for Save the Children so I have six now ready to send off. I am going to send these this week then start a few more. The other item I've stitched I can't share as it's the April Challenge - sorry.

I'm not sure what I plan to stitch this week - I'm sure there is something I should be soing but can't think what. Hopefully I will remember soon.

Back from Wales

No pictures this week - I'm sorry but I haven't done as much on the 3D house as I wanted so there is no point in showing that. The other stitching I have been doing is for the April Month Challenge with Jayne's Attic and I can't show that until reveal day.

I have knitted another hat - this time in black and white varigated wool. I knitted half a hat going to Wales and the other half coming home. I can only knit on the motorway as the Welsh roads are too twisty.

We've had a good weekend, quite and lazy but it's a great way to relax. Pub lunch on Saturday followed by an afternoon of tv sport (with stitching of course). Philippa has been really busy doing some designing and scrapbooking for her textiles course.

Hopefully next week I will have a little more to share - I did kit up and send my freebie exchange and I have kitted up the exchange gift for the meet up on April 26th so for once I am a little more organised.

Have a great week

Snowy Sunday

We awoke this morning to a light covering of snow making everywhere look stunning - although some of my lovely spring flowers have taken a beating. I don't think the snow will last for long as we have bright blue skies and spring sunshine.

My craft this week has alternated between stitching and knitting.

I have nearly completed the walls of my Christmas House - quite appropriate with the weather. I am hoping to start the roof later today and add all the tiny beads.

My knitting has been to make hats for Save the Children's Africa appeal - http://www.savethechildren.org.uk/en/docs/knit-kit.pdf so far I've knitted five - here are my first four. I'm now doing pink and blue stripes to add a bit of colour and I have found some black/white wool so I'll have a go with that later this week. One thing I found out was not to knit a white hat as white is the symbol of mourning in Africa.

I managed to kit up a chart for the exchange and that is now on it's way through our postal system to my secret partner. I also kitted up the exchange gift for a meet up I have arranged on 26th April - there will be 30+ stitchers all meeting for a day of stitch and chat.
