September's Fully Finished Objects

Rachel, Ten Hour Stitcher, is the super host of Fully Finished Objects which is a great opportunity to show and tell about our crafty items that are completely finished.

I have three Santas finished, they will probably be my last ones for the tree. I do have some felt Santas that I made for our children to hang at Christmas many years ago so they will also be on the tree.

I also finished a beautiful Santa my friend Gill sent to me. She has already stitched four but sent this too, it's so cute

My other FFO object is very special. It was our daughter and son-in-law's first wedding anniversary at the end of August, their first year has really flown by.

As a 1st Anniversary is paper I decided to have a go at embroidering a photo. I have seen this on Instagram but have never tried it. It was so tricky as the back is just white so you gave no real idea where the needle is coming up and if too close to a previous hole the photo could tear.

I was so pleased with how it turned out, the roses and tiny flowers were a joy to build up. I really enjoyed this, from matching the colours to building up the stitches. I'm pleased to say Mr and Mrs Lang liked it too.

I haven't stitched much for a few months but I have spent time sorting my stash and sewing bits out, I now have quite a few projects to work on.

August Smalls

I've just made it before August disappears.

Rachel at Ten Hour Stitcher is the host of Smalls SAL 2024 and this month my Smalls are again for my tree.

Just one Santa that isn't quite finished. I'm hoping it will be this weekend and that I can do a second one.

My other Small is a mini kit bead ornament. I made the one that came with the kit earlier this year (or maybe last year) but there were plenty of beads left so I've stitched another.

No hints but can you guess what might be in my September Fully Finished Objects post 🤔

Gifted Gorgeousness August 2024

I didn't post last month, in fact I haven't posted much lately and, like many, I'm a bit slow at blog reading. I'm hoping my stitching and blogging will be back on track soon.

Gifted Gorgeousness is hosted each month by the lovely Jo at Serendipitous Stitching. GG, on the 15th of each month, is when we share our latest gifts. These can be gifts given or received, or any item made using fabric, threads, buttons, ribbon, chart, backing fabric that has been gifted.

My GG this month is about a multi gift, tomorrow I'm hosting another wine night with our friends and I thought we'd do some blind tasting to see how are senses are  ... and if we can recognise the wines as we've been having these events for ten years so hopefully our noses and palettes have improved .... we'll see.

Anyway I've made some bottle bags!

These are made with gifts from everywhere, a bit of something in each.

  • the shirts were donated by my Hubby and stepdad
  • the ties I bought from a charity shop so had been gifted in and I gifted a donation when I bought them
  • they will be gifted out at the tasting as raffle prizes
  • I made them using my late Mum's sewing machine which has been gifted to me

As I said these bottle bags have been gifted all round, I hope they gift smiley faces tomorrow when everyone sees them.

Thanks Jo for hosting again thus month, fingers crossed I'll have more to share next time.

August's Fully Finished Objects

Rachel, Ten Hour Stitcher, is the super host of Fully Finished Objects which is a great opportunity to show and tell about our crafty items that are completely finished.

I haven't been stitching much these last few months, in fact this year is not my stitchy best.

This month I have two more Santas to share, they are a bit different but I quite like them.

I have stitched 14 so far, hopefully a few more by November. It's quite an assortment.

I've received six gorgeous Santas, two from DJ and four from my friend Gill. If anyone would like to add to the Santa collection I need them by 1st November to give me finishing time.

Thank you so much DJ and Gill, I can't wait to put the Santa Tree up.

July Smalls

Rachel at Ten Hour Stitcher is the host of Smalls SAL 2024 and this month my Smalls are again small, I have just two Santas.

I've not done much stitching for ages, our month away in June sort of stopped my needle for various reasons. One thing when we're away is often the light in hotels is not bright enough and the villa we stayed in only had lamps, not overhead lighting. Hopefully I'll get going again soon, the anniversary project is certainly helping.

I will just share these photos but they are not small... they are huge! After two years producing just leaves our amaryllis have flowered again, they are beautiful.

Thank you Rachel for hosting Smalls again this month and thank you to everyone who passes by, especially those who leave a comment.

ISHW July 2024

I missed June's stitchy weekend as we were on holiday and although we had a busy Friday and Saturday I am dedicating today to my stitching (once the ironing is done)

International Hermit and Stitch Weekend is based on Facebook, hosted by Jo, Joyce, Ee Koon and Bonnie IHSW on Facebook.

I'm working on a secret project that is a new craft to me. I'm sorry that is such a tease sentence but I really cannot say any more other than it is for our daughter's and son-in-law's first anniversary. I can't believe it's neatly a year since this beautiful day.

My project has these threads - the wedding colour theme and the ones I used for their sampler. My Stitch-opedia book has been a valuable help too. I

Happy stitching everyone, thank you for calling by.

July's Fully Finished Objects

Rachel, Ten Hour Stitcher, is the super host of Fully Finished Objects which is a great opportunity to show and tell about our crafty items that are completely finished.

My Mum sadly away on 8th June, a day before we left for France for a month away. It was a blessing as Mum had been unwell for many months, she was amazed to have reached her 85th birthday on the last day of May. I'm glad I could say goodbye before we left, Mum is now at peace.

I didn't stitch much on holiday, I find hotel rooms do not have good enough lighting and our villa was quite windy so impossible to stitch outside although perfect to enjoy the view. I have written about our time away on my other blog, here's the link:

My FFOs this month are the beautiful Santas my friend Gill sent me, you may have seen them on my June GG post.

I haven't stitched much since coming home either, life is quite busy with a few things at the moment, Mum's funeral being one of them.

Hopefully I will get going again soon and pick up on my blog reading, apologies for not passing by  but I'll be catching up with your news soon.
