WIPocalypse May

WIPocalypse is all about stitching we want to do before the End of the World. Measi hosts this great idea at Measi's Musings. As well as sharing our stitching Measi asks month there is a question too, you'll find my answer later on in my post.

So how did my May stitching go? Here were my plans:

  • 12 Days of Christmas - Five Gold Rings by Jardin Prive and Plum Street Samplers
  • JCS ornament SAL - Ursula Michael Designs My Friendly Gnome
  • Starting a wedding gift
  • Spring Challenges with Needlecraft Haven
  • December Flip It
Well it was a bit of a slow stitching month, I have not been very interested in my projects maybe because they are all Christmas and a bit samey. I haven't been in blogland much either, apologises, I will try to catch up with everyone's news.

I have stitched Jardin Prive Five Gold Rings and I have started my Plum Street Sampler piece. I haven't stitched the Friendly Gnome or started the wedding gift, but I have stitched the spring challenges. I have even finished one completely. Still no work on December Flip It.

Here's my Spring Challenge finish, I have a cardboard box that came with some candles I bought and I now use for keeping my seeds in. The challenge design was a Mandala from World of Stitches and the colours looked great with my box so I fixed it over the product label.

I have stitched some of the other challenge designs, you can see them in my previous post - May Smalls

This month's question is 'what was the first project you ever stitched?'

This was an embroidery kit that my Godmother gave me for my 10th birthday. It was an oval design of a girl on a swing. I remember the design was printed on the fabric and had an oval frame with it. I have since taken it out of the frame and as you can see it has rust marks and fading. I should press it and look for another frame, still oval, maybe a white one. I do remember my Gran patiently showing me how to do the knots.

And so to my June plans - I just hope I am more productive this month hee hee
  • 12 Days of Christmas - Five Gold Rings by Plum Street Samplers
  • 12 Days of Christmas - Six Geese A-laying
  • JCS ornament SAL - Ursula Michael Designs My Friendly Gnome
  • JCS ornament SAL - My Big Toe Designs Merry Christmas
  • Starting a wedding gift
  • A birthday gift
  • Spring and Summer Challenges with Needlecraft Haven
  • December Flip It

May Smalls

Mary at Mary's Thread hosts the Smalls SAL. On the last Friday of the month we share our small stitching items that we have completed but not necessarily fully finished. Mary has a link up post on her blog so we can pop over to see everyone's work.

The last two months my stitching has not been as productive. I'm not sure why: holidays maybe, life starting again so I'm busier or just losing interest. Anyway I have a few smalls to share.

The first three are for the Spring Challenge on Needlecraft Haven. They are part of a big design but I chose to do them individually. They need pressing.

My next piece is also for the Spring Challenge, I will be mounting this on a box I use to keep my seeds in.

I have only stitched my Jardin Prive Day 5, I need to catch up with my Plum Street Sampler one.

I think I need a good review of my stitching; what's done and what I need to do. I am pleased to have finished the flowers for church. I think I have a couple of gifts to do but mainly keeping up with the SALs, like I say I need a review.

May's Gifted Gorgeousness

The 15th of each month means it's Gifted Gorgeousness time, the time each month when we share our latest gifts. These can be gifts given or received, or any item made using fabric, threads, buttons, ribbon, chart, backing fabric that has been gifted.

This great idea is hosted each month by the lovely Jo at Serendipitous Stitching,  if you visit her blog you'll find the links to everyone's Gifted Gorgeousness posts.

My GG this month is not my stitching. Last year Tiff sent a beautiful blue flower and Dusty sent a collection of flowers for my Bouquet but they were too late to include. I have now made them up and will keep them safe until this year's festival which we all hope will take place.

Here's a reminder of how the tree looked set up in our home last year, this year I hope it will be on church along with 59 others.

I have been so touched by everyone's kindness in sending such beautiful flowers, thank you.

Fully Finished Objects in May

Rachel, Ten Hour Stitcher, hosts Fully Finished Objects for us to show and tell about the crafty items we have completely finished. These are the pieces I finished for this month's check in, although I am a little late.

I have stitched both my 12 Days pieces, without frogging any this time too. I really like the beads around my Jardin Prive pieces but they are fiddly to attach as I use invisible thread.

My other finish is the JCS ornament SAL on Facebook. This month it is Rejoicing Rudolph by Blue Ribbon Designs. As soon as I saw the design I knew I had a round ornament frame in my stash ... it took a while to work out which size fabric I needed but I'm pleased with the finish.

I don't have any other finishes, I think our holiday threw me out of sync. You can read about it in my other blog Aimetu's - wine, food and travel. I do have another travel blog to do but all about Berwick-upon-Tweed is written.

April Smalls

Mary at Mary's Thread hosts the Smalls SAL. On the last Friday of the month we share our small stitching items that we have completed but not necessarily fully finished. Mary has a link up post on her blog so we can pop over to see everyone's work.

I'm a little late with my April post as today is 2nd May. I think April went by a bit of a blur as I was distracted awaiting the scan results. I didn't get as much stitched as I had hoped but I do have a few smalls to share.

Firstly my 12 Days - I have only managed to stitch the Plum Street Sampler one, I'm hoping to fi ish my Jardin Prive piece soon.

My other small is my JCS Christmas ornament for the Facebook SAL. This month we stitched Blue Ribbon Design - Rejoicing Reindeer.

I have plenty of stitching to catch up on as well as blog reading and books to read. Hopefully by the end of May I will be back on track but if not there's always June.
